Something for everyone at Victory

Worship Ministry

The Worship Team is composed of musicians who lead the congregation in times of praising God through biblical forms such as: singing, clapping, dancing, and vocalizing energetic worship. Included in the team are African musicians who regularly sing in Kinyarwanda and Swahili.

Children's Ministry

Victory Iternational is raising up the church of tomorrow--teaching children about Jesus and having a relationship with Him. Children’s Church is offered for preschoolers through age 9. For children ages 0-3 parents can be with their children (if needed) in a separate room facing the sanctuary where they can watach and listen to the service. Special events like Vacation Bible School and the Harvest Festival connect families together.

Youth Ministry

Victory International has an energetic multi-cultural and multi-racial youth ministry. Throughout the year, they conduct special outreach events, attend state and local conferences, and participate in ministries of the church. The group is led by a team of dedicated adults that seek to minister to the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of our youth.

Women's Ministry

The women of Victory International Assembly of God serve in a variety of ministries within the church and community. There are numerous times throughout the year when they gather just for fun, fellowship and encouragement such as at Mother’s Day and Christmas time and for events in Western New York such as the Western Section of the Assemblies of God Spring Rally...

Men's Ministry

There are numerous opportunities for the men of Victory International to both fellowship and serve. Every Saturday morning at 8:00 AM the men have a prayer meeting where they pray for each other and lead in prayer for other needs. The first Saturday of each month the men prepare breakfast at the church for the men. The men participate in area men's events such as the annual Iron Sharpens Iron Men’s Conference and retreats. Occasionally the men get to together for a work day at the church to do repairs and remodeling.

Van Ministry

We provide transportation for those who need a ride who live within a two mile radius of the church. Rides are provided for the Sunday morning service at 10:30 am, and the Friday evening youth service at 7:00 pm.
If you need a ride to either of these services please give us a call at the church office...

What we believe

Vision & Purpose

We purpose to honor the Bible as God’s Word. The Word of God will be central to all that is done and the basis of all that is taught. The whole counsel of God will be proclaimed as God’s absolute truth without compromise in a spirit of love and grace. The preaching of God’s Word will be the most honored priority in our worship services. The objective of communicating God’s Word will be informational to instill a biblical worldview and transformational as it is applied through obedience in areas of personal conduct and lifestyle.
Psalms 119:140; Colossians 3:16; 1 Timothy 4:13; 2 Timothy 4:2; Hebrews 4:12; 1 Peter 1:22

We purpose to be known as a house of prayer. Prayer will be central in all aspects of our church. All will be encouraged to maintain a close personal communion with God. We will as a church encourage weekly times of corporate prayer. The life transforming power of the Spirit of God will be sought for in every person, worship service and ministry.
Romans 12:12; Luke 11:2, 24:53; Ephesians 6:18; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; John 4:23-24: Acts 2:1-4

We purpose to be known as a community of worshipers who celebrate the goodness and greatness of God in worship. We will encourage people to worship God passionately both corporately and privately in spirit and truth (John 4:23-24). Worship is to be a lifestyle of glorifying God in all aspects of our lives. Worship is to be God-centered and God-focused. Corporate worship expressions are to consistently present the truth of who Jesus is and what He desires for the lives of His people. Worship should connect us with Christ and experience the presence of God. Ministry in the gifts of the Holy Spirit will be encouraged so as to allow God to work in people’s lives in miraculous ways. As people experience the presence of God they will be transformed. Real worship will transform the worshiper.
Psalms 9:11, 67:3; Hebrews 13:15

We purpose to compel the lost to come to Christ though being a center for personal, community, and world evangelism. Following the commands of Christ to take the gospel to all the earth and to make disciples, we purpose to train each person to be able to share the gospel in such a way not to get just decisions for Christ but to turn new converts into genuine disciples of Christ. While the priority will be an emphasis on personal evangelism, there will also be times for unified church outreaches to the community as the Spirit of God leads. We will not be content to wait for the lost and hurting to find us. We purpose to continue to grow in world evangelism outreach through increasing our support for missionaries and to be involved in sending missions teams from our church.
Acts 1:8: Matthew 28:19-20: Mark 16:15-16

We purpose to be community of believers who deeply love each other and where there is an atmosphere of love and acceptance with a spirit of unity. People from any cultural background, race, income level, or educational level will be welcomed and embraced with the love of Christ. We purpose that our fellowship will go far beyond just seeing each other at the Sunday service. Numerous fellowship opportunities will be planed each year and personal fellowship between members will be encouraged. We will encourage all to participate in discipleship groups and one-on-one mentoring or spiritual coaching.
Romans 12:10; 1 Peter 1:22; John 13:35; John 15:12

We purpose to be a community of believers who put a priority on relational discipleship. Through intentionally developing close relationships of trust and accountability, we purpose to encourage each other in our personal journey of transformation towards spiritual maturity by becoming Christ-like character. Everyone will be encouraged to participate in and complete the Life Transforming Discipleship Course and to continue to make disciples as an on-going focus of our lives.
John 13:35, 15:12: Matthew 28:19-20

We purpose to be a center for ministry where everyone is helped to discover and develop his spiritual gifts. Because we believe every believer is called to serve in some way, we will endeavor to help each person find his calling and place of ministry. An important part of the transformational journey will be the transformation from being a self-centered person who looks to serve himself to being a person who passionately and joyfully serves God and others. Preparation for ministry will require growth in commitment and character along with “hands on” training with the supervision of a mentoring ministry leader. We purpose to build up a host of dedicated servants of God who will faithfully demonstrate God’s compassion by ministering to those within and outside the church.

Core Beliefs

BIBLE—Word of God
The Bible is the inspired and the only infallible and authoritative Word of God. The Bible is our standard of rule for belief and conduct.
(2 Tim.3:16, 1 Thess. 2:13, 2 Peter 1:21)

There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.
(Phil. 2:6, John 1:1,14,18, 15:26)

Concerning Christ, the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal future return to this earth in power and glory to rule a thousand years.

There is a Blessed Hope - the rapture of the church at Christ's coming.
(Acts 1:11, 1 Thess. 4:16,17)

Man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God, but though Adam's transgression and fall, sin came into the world, and all of mankind is under sin. Apart from God's grace man's sin will destine him to God's eternal judgment in the Lake of Fire.
(Rom. 3:23, 5:12 ,6:23, Rev. 20:11-15)

The only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the atoning work of Christ on the cross.
(Eph. 2:8,9)

Regeneration by the Holy Spirit ( being born again) is absolutely essential for personal salvation.
(John 3:3-5, Titus 3:5)

Water baptism is by immersion. The ordinance is a symbol of the Christian's identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection.
(Rom. 6:1-5)

The redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing of the body in answer to believing prayer.
(James 5:14,15, Mark 16:18, Isa. 53:4,5, Matt. 8:17)

The sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life. Sanctification is a work of God's grace at salvation and progresses though out the believer's life until death or Christ's return. Progression in sanctification is dependent upon the believer's repentance and obedience.
(Hebrews 12:14, 1Thess. 5:23, 2 Peter 3:18, 2 Cor. 3:18, Phil. 3:12-14)

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers through out the church age or dispensation. This baptism of the Holy Spirit is received subsequently to the New Birth, and is accompanied by the initial physical evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit gives utterance. Evidence of the fullness of the Holy Spirit is demonstrated in a life of a believer both in gifts and fruit of the Spirit.
(Acts 1:8, 2:4, 8:15-17, 10:44-47, 19:1-6, 1 Cor. 12:7-11, Gal. 5:22,23)

Evangelism & Outreach

Looking back

Besides training and encouraging our members to be active in personal evangelism we conduct various outreaches in our local community. Over the years we have done the full spectrum of types of evangelism. We have done three door-to-door literature distributions to about 5,000 homes. We have done park evangelism for many years at our local park. Our church has participated in the area’s Boxes of Love distribution of gifts for children at Christmas. Our Family Fun Days were some of our best outreaches. For a number of years, we sponsored a Family Fun Day open for all the community to come and enjoy a pig roast, live music, drama, bounce houses, and testimonies from men from Teen Challenge.

We always made sure that everyone received the gospel in some way. Each year the attendance grew from a few hundred to about 1,500 in attendance. Our biggest outreach was the Convoy of Hope that Victory spearheaded for Buffalo in 2007. Working with many other churches we were able to have a successful outreach. We made available about 50 different agencies and ministries that offered help at the community center located in one of our large tents. We gave out tons of food, clothing, over 150 free haircuts, hundreds of medical tests, had a huge Kids Zone with over 6 bounce house and slides. But most importantly we had over 500 pray to receive Christ. (photos available under More Stuff>Photo Galleries>Church ministries)

Evangelism Team Mission Statement

It is the goal of the Evangelism team to take the Gospel to the world rather than wait for the world to come to us as commanded in Matthew 28:19-20 which says: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” We believe that effective Christian Ministry involves taking the Gospel outside of the four walls of the church to the community at large. Luke 14:23 “And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”

We believe that the model for Christian ministry involves engaging the community and forming long-term relationships with the community and individuals as we endeavor to consistently meet practical needs within the community. These long-term relationships earn for us the right to share the gospel of Jesus with the community and individuals as we consistently demonstrate the love of Christ in ongoing practical ways. We believe that it is equally important to provide new believers with a place for ongoing fellowship and discipleship where they can be taught to become Disciples of Christ and to eventually go out and bring others into the Kingdom of God.

“When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was hungry, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see you hungry, and fed you, or thirsty, and gave you drink? When did we see you a stranger, and took you in? or naked, and clothed you? Or when did we see you sick, or in prison, and came you? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

Based on these and numerous other scriptures, it is apparent that as Christians we are called to be salt and light, and a blessing to our communities. Being a blessing within our community can take on many forms such as feeding programs, clothing giveaways, housing assistance, providing furniture and appliances for needy people, help with job preparation and attainment of employment, learning English as a second language, taking care of sick people, assisting the elderly in our community, or anything else that helps meet practical needs of people. With God’s help and direction we purposes to form long-term relationships, as we meet as many of the practical needs within our community as is possible, and in the process, share the love and Gospel of Christ with the community.

Philosophy of Ministry

What we believe concerning ministry

1. We believe every ministry of Victory International is to have the biblical priorities of:

    a) Fulfilling the Great Commandments of Christ
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”  (Matthew 22:37-39)

    b) Fulfilling the Great Commission
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”   (Matthew 28:19-20)
2. We believe every believer is called to serve God. With God’s calling to serve, He has given each believer both natural talents and spiritual gifts to serve Him according to His divine plan. We will endeavor to help each believer find their calling and place of ministry.

3. We believe every member of Victory International is to be involved in ministry and to be part of a ministry team.

4. We believe ministry is done best when believers work together on ministry teams. No one individual has all the gifts. A team is made of people with different gifts that completes the potential for effectiveness in a particular ministry. Each team will have an appointed leader.

5. We believe every ministry of Victory International is to work together with the other ministries to achieve the objective of the church’s vision for lives to be transformed.

6. We believe that every ministry is to focus on the fulfillment of that least one of the seven purposes of the church; communicating God’s word, communing with God, celebrating God’s goodness and greatness, compelling the lost to come to Christ, developing a loving community of believers, growing in Christ’s character, and showing compassion through ministry.

7. We believe that involvement in ministry is a very important part of the transformation process. Ministry helps a person change from being a self-centered person who looks to please self to being a person who passionately and joyfully serves God and others. When the church is successful in equipping the believers for the works of ministry that not only brings transformation to those involved in ministry but also builds up others in the church to achieve spiritual maturity.   (Ephesians 4:11-16)
